Publisher's Cover Blurb[]

In Bigg City Port there are two tugboat companies - The Star Fleet owned by Captain Star and the Z-Stacks owned by Captain Zero. The Stars are honest and hardworking (but their rivals), the Z-Stacks are not to be trusted and often cause trouble.

In this story, Sunshine (an up river tug) comes to help Captain Star's team bring a huge liner (The Duchess) into port. But the Z-Stacks (led by Zorran) are determined to spoil the Stars' big chance…

Trivia[]

  • There are several scenes and details mentioned in the book that are absent from both the 20 minute and 15 minutes versions:
    • A scene of Zorran and Zak spying in on the Star Fleet's briefing. They go off to tell Captain Zero about the Stars getting the Duchess.
    • The first job Ten Cents and Sunshine do is move coal barges.
    • Zorran and Zak see the Duchess from where Izzy Gomez is docked.
    • Zorran and Zip are the ones to push Big Mac onto the mudflats, instead of Zip and Zug.
    • Ten Cents and Sunshine try to pull Big Mac off the mudflats.
    • The Z-Stacks are surrounding the Duchess when the Star Fleet go to meet her at the entrance of the harbor.
    • The Duchess was to swing out of control after Sunshine rams into her rudder.
    • Zorran was to have extra dialogue after coming in to help the Stars ("Never trust a Switcher to do a real tug's job!").
    • Zorran was to stay and help the Star Fleet complete the docking operation.
    • The Duchess' party was to be happening while Ten Cents was looking for Sunshine.
    • As Sunshine heads back Up River his engine falters and his searchlight goes out.
    • Ten Cents has extra dialogue before he and others go out to find Sunshine ("If it wasn't Sunshine's fault, then we all owe him an apology."). O.J. also has some alternate dialogue ("My engine's playing up again, so I'll stay here and tell Captain Star.").
    • The Star Fleet heads Up River, calling out Sunshine's name. When they find Sunshine, he's found with the water up to his eyes as he slowly sinks.
    • The final image in the book is used from an early promotional shoot of the Star Tugs at the Star Dock (note Sunshine's white handrails).
