"I'll tell you where you've been: you've been helping those Star switchers, you creep! Like to be a goody, goody Star Tug, would you?"
Zorran to Zebedee, High Winds

  • Number: 2
  • Tug Type: Harbour Tug
  • Affiliation: Zero Fleet
  • Nationality: British

Zebedee, nicknamed Zeb or Zebby, is a conflicted member of the Z-Stacks. He is Captain Zero's second tug and Zorran's right hand tug. Despite working for the Z-Stacks, there is little malice in him compared to his colleagues. He speaks with a Liverpudlian accent. He is usually seen working with Zak.

Zebedee is used for a variety of tasks around Bigg City Port. Like the other Z-Stacks, he is based on the NYC Moran Fleet tugs from the 1920s. His personality resembles that of Shemp Howard. Zeb is one of the more complex Tugs characters, an easy-going tug who winds up the Star Fleet for a reason or another—rude and vindictive on the outside, but on the inside there is much to his personality. Beneath his tough exterior is the only Z-Stack to have a conscience.

In the episode "High Winds," Zeb's guilty conscience proves he has good in him when he helps Ten Cents and Sunshine secure Scuttlebutt Pete, and the Star Fleet tow the liner Princess Alice, as well as stood up for himself to help Hercules take Johnny Cuba to authority, who had threatened to scuttle him throughout the episode if he didn't help him. In the same episode, he was offered to join the Star Fleet but refused, saying he's a Z-Stack at his heart. Zeb's lighter side was never examined again in the series, but it was in another form of media which stated his owner was Captain Star, meaning it would have been expanded on had the second series been produced.

Zeb's whistle produces a single flat note. He also has the deepest whistle of the Z-Stacks.

Salty's Lighthouse

In the animated series Salty's Lighthouse, Zebedee was voiced by Ian James Corlett, giving him a Brooklyn accent. His name is always pronounced as Zeebee, although, unlike Big Mac and O.J.'s, his original nametag is left uncensored, which means that either 'Zeebee' is a short name, or that his name could have been mispronounced. This is also what happened with Burke and Blair.
